Principal

Brian Kim has over 20 years of experience in the area of real estate finance that includes structuring of complex transactions using multiple financing sources.

Mr. Kim, as a Portfolio Manager for Housing Opportunities Commission, was responsible for managing a bond portfolio totaling $360 million. During his tenure as the Portfolio Manager, he has underwritten various deals using tax-exempt bonds, taxable bonds, bond anticipated notes, and low income housing tax credit equities.

Prior to joining the Commission, Mr. Kim worked as an Investment Manager for The Commercial Bank of Korea responsible for underwriting fixed income debts. He has underwritten various transactions using Zero Coupon Bonds, FRN, and FRCD to be used as mezzanine financing.

Mr. Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration, with concentration in International Finance, from American University.

  • Responsible for structuring, underwriting, and financing of Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Tax-Exempt Bonds, Taxable Bonds, Bond Anticipated Notes transactions for multifamily real estate developments.
  • Responsible for managing the physical and fiscal condition of the multifamily portfolio to ensure compliance with financing documents, maintenance of bond rating, and maintenance of the tax-exempt status of the bonds.
  • Review the performance of individual assets in each portfolio to identify trends, risky assets, trouble assets, work-outs and refinance opportunities.
