Gude Drive New Shared Facilities
The Gude Drive Complex is a collaborative public-private partnership created to improve the housing facilities and supportive services to homeless men in Montgomery County, Maryland. Because of the increased need for housing of the homeless in the county, this shelter was upgraded and increased in size.
CD has provided Construction Management Services throughout this project, while Forrester Construction Company has been the General Contractor. The building addition totals 3,780 sf and adds 35 new beds to the existing 100 as well as providing other additional services at this location. Some of these new services include counseling offices, new laundry and bathroom facilities, two medical exam rooms, a meeting space, and computer lab for educational activities.
In addition to this expansion, a second building is being constructed that will become part of the Adrienne’s Safe Havens, the Chase Partnership House and offices for the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless (MCCH) staff. Prior to this new building, housing and services for both programs were provided in substandard buildings onsite. In addition to providing shelter for 51 men, the new building will feature offices for staff, two dining rooms, two life skills kitchens, two computer labs, laundry and bathroom facilities, conference rooms and lounges.
The total cost of the project is approximately $5 million.
